Available lessons: Violin and/or viola; Music theory

I’ve been playing since I joined the school orchestra at age nine. When violists became scarce, I switched from violin to lead the middle school viola section. Eventually, Furman University offered me an orchestra scholarship, where I studied under Dr. Anna Barbry-Joiner for three years. After burning out, I set my instrument in a closet, eventually rediscovering the joy of playing when invited to participate in a praise band. We were a bunch of modern hippies, just thrilled to play music casually. I have enjoyed playing since. I currently serve on the board of Piedmont Music Academy and teach on Fridays out of my home.
Focus: Learning a musical instrument takes practice, but ultimately, it should bring us joy, not drain the soul. I am flexible in my teaching, using a variety of styles, but will address form and theory as well.
I typically schedule lessons twice monthly, one hour blocks.
Cost: $100 monthly for two lessons
I live in south Charlotte and am also convenient for Fort Mill/ Rock Hill residents. Please email me for more information.
